Positions in the KSVM

  A new home for KSVM

     The Koret School of Veterinary Medicine,
Israel’s only veterinary school, opened in November 1985 with twenty students.  The school is part of the The Robert H. Smith Faculty of Agriculture, Food and Environment of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Since the opening, it has become a viable and dynamic school, with a 180-strong student body, offering a four year Doctor of Veterinary Medicine  (DVM) program. The Koret School is located both on the campus of the The Robert H. Smith Faculty of Agriculture, Food and Environment in Rehovot and at the Veterinary Medical University Hospital in Bet Degan.

The goals of the Koret School of Veterinary Medicine are to train high quality veterinary students, with special emphasis on the specific needs of the country, so that they will be able to meet the present and future demands for their professional services. The Koret School also offers post-graduate and continuing education programs for local veterinarians and new immigrant veterinarians as well as being responsible for organizing the licensing examination of the Ministry of Agriculture for veterinarians. In addition, research in basic sciences and clinical veterinary medicine is conducted.  The Koret School has a special responsibility to provide practical, ethical and educational support   Now, more than ever, while veterinarians are called upon to solve so many heath and environmental problems in underdeveloped countries, the Koret School is committed to serving as the country’s major referral center for veterinarians and becoming the foremost center of veterinary medicine in the Middle East.

Graduates of the Koret School of Veterinary Medicine go on to conduct instructional and research activities, and care for pet animals, livestock, horses and poultry.  Other occupations open to Koret School graduates include the provision of regulatory veterinary services, hygiene in industrial food production, promotion of animal welfare, veterinary services for the police and army and veterinary care and management of wildlife.
